Champion dairy sells at £2320, with 11 over £2000 at NWA Lancaster
The monthly collective sale of dairy cattle at NWA Lancaster saw a high quality catalogued entry attract an eager crowd of buyers, all keen to secure additional and replacement stock from this renowned sale.
The pre sale show was judged by Mr M Atkinson, Quernmore who found his champion in Bilsrow Jones Lucie, from Tomlinson Bilsrow Ltd, Billsborrow. This heifer stood out from a class of 12 and being bred from 3 gens of VG/EX cows, she sold for a sale topping price of £2320 to an undisclosed Lancashire buyer. The reserve champion was shown by Drinkall Bros, Abbystead being Pennine Poppy 1598, which later sold at £2300 to a Cheshire buyer.
10 heifers sold over £2000, to include Pennine Nancy Lass 208 from Drinkall Bros, Abbystead at £2320, Denhamhill Marley Peggy 3, from EH & R Eccles, Chorley achieving £2300, Sweetings Rubi -Taz Yoyo 2 selling at £2280 from Lawsons Farms, Cockerham. Liscoebank dream queen achieving £2150 from AJ&J Parkinson & sons, Out Rawcliffe.
New calved cows sold to a top price of £2180 for the 1st prize Bonjour Tellar from Tomlinson Bilsrow ltd, with others at £1800 for Liscabank Spectre Bertha from AJ&J Parkinson, Out Rawcliffe.
A feature of todays sale included a consignment of young stock from the Corefield herd of WJ&I France & Son, Chipping, which sold to a top price of £600 for Corefield Rapid Randy 32, with others at £500 for Corefield Rapid Randy 37.
