Dairy Delights sell to £2620 at NWA Lancaster

North West Auctions January Sale of Dairy Cattle at Lancaster Auction Mart saw buyers travel from throughout the Northern Counties, Midlands and Wales alongside keen online bidding interest; all competing to secure replacement stock from this renowned sale.

The sale peaked at a top price of £2,620 for ‘Bilsrow Goodwhone Shower 7’ consigned by Tomlinson Bilsrow Ltd, Bilsborrow. This much admired heifer sired by ‘Cogent Azure’ and bred from an unbroken line of 8 generations of VG & EX cows, was purchased by WK Wilkinson & Son, Barnard Castle. The next top price achieving £2,600 was ‘Sweetings Lineman Trudi’ from Lawsons Farm Ltd, Cockerham; bred from 5 generations of VG & EX cows she was purchased by an undisclosed Cumbrian buyer.
Drinkall Bros, Abbeystead sold a heifer from the renowned ‘Poppy’ family, sired by ‘Cogent Twist’ at £2,450 to Lawsons Dairy Ltd, Cockerham. Another Pennine heifer sold at £2,420 to an undisclosed Cheshire buyer.
J T & B Fox, Quernmore sold a ‘Go-Farm Zebar’ sired heifer; ‘Blackwood Embla 520’ for £2,420 with £2,400 bid for ‘Goadsbarrow Cath 5’ from A V Lord & Co, Aldingham purchased by Wallbank Farms Ltd, Lancaster. A heifer from the ‘Wyredale’ herd of M J & H Atkinson, Quernmore; ‘Wyredale Control Betina 150’ sold at £2,300 to J Bargh & Son, Morecambe.

New Calved cows attracted keen interest. The much admired ‘Phoenix Maussaieff Reddiamond Red’, sired by ‘Scientific Director Red’ and from an EX93 cow, consigned from A Swale, Tottleworth, fresh into her 2nd lactation sold for a final bid of £2,450 to W Oldfield, Gisburn.
A pair of cows from the Pennine Herd sold at £2,250 and £2,200 with £2,150 achieved by G J Mutton, Barrow in Furness for ‘Billingcoat Brody Pamela’.

Breeding Bulls sold to a top price of £1,500 for ‘Ingleview Douglas’ from R & E Butterfield, Ingleton. This bull was bred from an EX90 dam and supported by 7 generations of VG & EX cows.

A single Friesian heifer stirk sired by ‘Deangate Noel’ from W Crook, Out Rawcliffe achieved £440
