What a great day with this Store Lamb sale continuing to grow from strength to strength as twice as many lambs sold as the same sale last year. There was an increased entry of 3494 Store Lambs at J36 that sold to a strong trade selling to an overall average of £71.75. Well over a third of the lambs forward where upland lambs. There was a full range of store lambs forward with something to suit all buyers’ requirements from short term to long term lambs. Once again a good backing of local and travelled buyers with many returning and new customers ringside.

A great consignment of Beltex gimmer lambs lead the way from JG & PH Thompson, Selside selling a pen of 10 Beltex lambs to £132 with others from the same home selling to £120. The consignment of Texel gimmer lambs from RA Batty, Selside sold to £121, £112 and £106 with other Texel gimmer lambs to £116.

Beltex lambs sold to £94 from J Potter, Orton. There was plenty of pens of best quality lambs selling around the £90 mark as well as well fleshed short keep lambs with plenty more pens of strong continental and Suffolk lambs in the eighties.

Upland lambs sold to a top of £87 for Rough Fell Mules from TLB & J Knowles, Selside with North Country mules selling to £81 from Fishwick Bros, Longsleddale. Cheviot lambs topped at £82 from JR Handley, Whinfell.

Suffolks topped at £89 from S Procter, Selside Av. £76.08
Mules topped at £87 from TLB & J Knowles, Selside Av. £68.68
