Sale top at £195 for Texel from D & K Swarbrick, Out Rawcliffe, with other pens selling to £192 from A&E Clarkson, Thurnham. With plenty of pens regularly £185-£190. Lighter lambs with plenty of meat sold to plenty of demand, with a ring full of 41kg Texel x lambs selling to £178 from KA Purtill, Wigan.
150 hoggs forward with trade being slightly up on the week. Once again well meated and fed hoggs easy to cash in. Texels sold to £169 from E&R Cranshaw, Brindle who sold Suffolks to £157 with Cheviot to £153 from A Thornton, Woodplumpton. With large pens of grass-fed Cheviots at 37kg selling to £120 from Barker Farms, Cockerham.
More ewes forward selling to a sharper trade, with an overall average of £149 per head. Texels sold to £202 from KA Purtill, Wigan who sold first cross Texel to £192. Mules sold to £190 from R&DL Cornthwaite, Nateby with other pens selling £182 from J Burr, Quernmore. All mules forward averaging £144. Cheviot ewes selling to £172 from A Thornton, Woodplumpton. All types of ewes needed next week.
